Established in 1974, the centre is located on a smallholding on the slopes of Papegaaiberg Mountain on the outskirts of the town. The centre can house and care for 134 people. We provide employment to all the residents as well as 30 day workers.<\/p>\n<p>Die inwoners het 'n behoefte aan omgee, groei, eiewaarde, sosialisering en verhoudings. Hulle het ook drome en hulle wil graag dinge doen. Maar hulle is weerloos. Daarom het hulle 'n geborge omgewing nodig waarin hulle tot hul reg kan kom.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Werkverskaffing<\/strong><br \/>\nOntwikkeling en werk gaan hand aan hand, en daarom word die inwoners volgens hul intellektuele vermo\u00ebns en belangstellings by een van nege werkareas ingedeel. S\u00f3 kan hulle deur handwerk, herwinning, herstelwerk, instandhouding, kosmaak en tuinwerk of iets anders in 'n beskutte omgewing werk en 'n sinvolle bydrae lewer. Terselfdertyd bied die werkareas terapeutiese waarde en al die voordele van 'n volwaardige werk \u2013 diensbaarheid, erkenning, trots, eiewaarde, sosiale samesyn, lewensgehalte en hoop. Daar is ook dagwerkers uit die omgewing wat by die inwoners aansluit.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div> \n\n\t<div  class=\"vc_col-sm-6 wpb_column column_container vc_column_container col child_column padding-1-percent inherit_tablet inherit_phone\"   data-padding-pos=\"all\" data-has-bg-color=\"false\" data-bg-color=\"\" data-bg-opacity=\"1\" data-animation=\"\" data-delay=\"0\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"vc_column-inner\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t<p><strong>Help ons<\/strong><br \/>\nHolistiese en kli\u00ebntgesentreerde hulp en ondersteuning word verskaf deur die personeel van Huis Horison, instrukteurs, mediese personeel en 'n maatskaplike werker. Daar word omgesien na hul ontspanning, geestelike behoeftes en persoonlike ontwikkeling. Ons ondersteun ook hul ouers en families.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Befondsing<\/strong><br \/>\nHuis Horison is 'n maatskappy sonder winsbejag wat vir sy eie befondsing verantwoordelik is. Om die sentrum finansieel volhoubaar te kan bedryf en ons voortbestaan te verseker, moet ons ons inkomste uit residensi\u00eble fooie aanvul deur donasies, vriendskapsbefondsing, verkope, fondsinsamelings en nalatenskappe uit testamente.
